Jonice Laundry

Privacy Policy

Your trust matters to us as much as your laundry. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you hold over it — in line with South Africa's POPIA and the EU's GDPR.

Effective date: 6 June 2026
Last updated: 6 June 2026
Applies to: jonicelaundry.co.za & our services

01 Who We Are

Jonice Laundry ("we", "us", "our") is a professional laundry and linen care service based at 35 Retief Street, Sasolburg, South Africa. We are the "responsible party" under POPIA and the "data controller" under GDPR for the personal information described in this policy.

For any privacy-related matter, our Information Officer can be reached using the contact details at the end of this policy.

02 Information We Collect

We only collect what we need to serve you well. This may include:

  • Identity & contact details — your name, phone number, email address and physical or collection address.
  • Service information — order details, garment and linen instructions, collection and delivery preferences, and any special handling notes.
  • Payment information — amounts, dates and method of payment. We do not store full card details; these are handled by our payment providers.
  • Communications — messages you send us by phone, WhatsApp, email or our website forms.
  • Website & technical data — IP address, browser type, pages visited and similar information collected through cookies (see Section 9).

We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal information, and we never sell your personal information to anyone.

03 How We Collect It

We collect personal information when you:

  • book a wash, collection or delivery by phone, WhatsApp or our website;
  • contact us with a question, quote request or complaint;
  • make a payment for our services; or
  • browse our website, through cookies and similar technologies.

Providing your information is voluntary, but please note that without certain details (such as your name, contact number and address) we may be unable to collect, clean or deliver your laundry.

04 Why We Use It & Our Lawful Basis

We process your personal information to:

  • provide, schedule and manage our laundry and linen services;
  • arrange collection and delivery and keep you updated on your order;
  • process payments and keep accurate financial records;
  • respond to your enquiries and provide customer support;
  • improve our services and website; and
  • comply with our legal and tax obligations.

Depending on the purpose, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to deliver the service you have requested.
  • Consent — for example, where you opt in to marketing messages.
  • Legitimate interests — to run and improve our business, where this does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep certain records.

05 Consent

Where we rely on your consent — such as sending you promotional offers — you are free to withdraw it at any time, without affecting any service you have already requested. Simply contact us using the details below, or use the opt-out option in any marketing message.

06 Who We Share It With

We treat your information as confidential and share it only where necessary. We may share limited personal information with:

  • Service providers — such as payment processors, delivery partners, and IT or hosting providers who help us operate.
  • Professional advisers — such as accountants, where reasonably required.
  • Authorities — where we are legally obliged to disclose information.

Anyone who processes personal information on our behalf is required to keep it secure and to use it only for the purposes we specify.

07 Cross-Border Transfers

Some of our service providers (for example, website hosting or cloud tools) may store data outside South Africa or the EU. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a level of protection consistent with POPIA and GDPR, including appropriate safeguards or contractual protections with those providers.

08 How Long We Keep It

We keep your personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law (for example, financial and tax records). When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

09 Cookies & Website Data

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly if you do.

10 Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. While no system can be guaranteed entirely secure, we work to safeguard your data and will notify you and the relevant regulator of any breach as required by law.

11 Your Rights

Under POPIA and GDPR, you have meaningful control over your personal information. You may exercise any of these rights free of charge by contacting us:

Access

Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.

Correction

Ask us to fix information that is inaccurate or out of date.

Deletion

Ask us to delete your information where we no longer need it.

Objection

Object to certain processing, including direct marketing.

Restriction

Ask us to pause processing while a concern is being resolved.

Portability

Receive certain information in a portable, machine-readable format.

You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time and to lodge a complaint with a regulator (see Section 13).

12 Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

13 Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first — we would like the chance to put things right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority:

  • South Africa — the Information Regulator, at inforegulator.org.za.
  • European Union — your local data protection authority in your country of residence.

14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the "last updated" date revised accordingly.
